CES, Las Vegas, NV – January 7, 2008 – Clarity Design Inc. announced the release of its Multimedia Applications Platform (MAP), based on the Marvell third-generation XScale PXA310 application processor. Potential applications include digital picture frames, hand-held devices, kiosks, digital signage, multimedia players and thin clients.

The MAP, developed in cooperation with Marvell, brings a rich set of integrated peripheral and connectivity interfaces, such as 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, 10/100 Ethernet, color LCD panel support up through XGA resolutions, touchscreen, serial port, and stereo audio out. At Booth #30651 at CES 2008 in Las Vegas, Marvell  and Clarity Design will demonstrate the MAP integrated into a digital picture frame (DPF), specifically targeting the rapidly growing DPF market.

The MAP is available from Clarity Design not only to help developers of digital picture frames, but also to enable companies that are seeking to develop embedded solutions based on the PXA310 with the integrated wireless features of 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth running on Linux, allowing for quick software development and deployment of their solutions.

Tom Lupfer, President of Clarity Design, said "We have worked very closely with Marvell to come up with the PXA310-based MAP, which is ideally suited to a wide variety of markets. We've combined the PXA310 running at 624MHz, wired and wireless connectivity (Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth), and versatile display support into a compact platform suitable for picture frames, digital signage and gaming applications. Clarity Design will work with OEMs to tailor the MAP into application-specific products, offering hardware design, software development, and prototyping and production services. As Marvell expands the PXA line of processors, Clarity Design will add to its line of general-purpose and application-specific platforms."

“By providing a truly optimized platform based on Marvell’s high-performance and low-power application processors and world leading wireless solutions with Clarity Design’s optimized hardware and software solutions, we believe it will be easier for developers and OEMs to create new and innovative consumer electronics applications and products and get them into the marketplace faster,” said Jeff Krisa, Vice President, Application Processor Business Unit, Mobile Cellular Business Group, Marvell Semiconductor.
