Himalayan Cataract Project Chosen as a Semi-Finalist for a $100 Million Grant from the MacArthur Foundation!
Clarity Design and the University of San Diego have been working together for over a year on developing a contact and non-contact tonometer for use by the Himalyan Cataract Project (HCP), that focuses on ending blindness in developing countries. It all began when Clarity Design sponsored two USD senior engineering design teams in 2015-2016 and hired two engineers that worked on the project. Now, Clarity Design has developed several prototypes with a goal to provide pilot units in 2017 to the HCP for evaluation, with production slated for 2018. HCP was recently chosen out of 1,904 applicants as a semi-finalists to compete for the $100 million grant from the MacArthur Foundation's 100&Change competition! Clarity Design is excited to continue working with and supporting the project, and is very eager to see what comes of it in the future!
